Interview of Biren Tubid by Udayan Gautam

Udayan : What is the present condition of Ho as language and literature?
Biren : To be very precise, the condition is critical. Of our fraternity, there are only five members who are active at present. We are also in the process of compiling a vocabulary. Booklets and pamphlets are regularly published in Ho. Language training centres have also been set up; fifty three children are being trained at Duan near Balichak in Paschim Medinipur.
Udayan :  Any patronage or hel Interview of Shyamal Kumar Pramanik by Supromit Maiti p you received from the govt. or any NGO?
Biren : No patronage has been received from the govt. so far. We are also aggrieved that Ho has not been given official status in our state though it has been accorded official status in a few other states. So far as patronage is concerned, Cultural Research Institute has taken an endeavour to publish a set of alphabets; we’re working on the same.
Udayan : Tell us about your vision of Ho in future.
Biren : It is a little unfortunate that the new generation is not much interested in practising Ho language and literature. But through our association, we are straining our every nerve to preserve the language. What the practitioners lack is proper guidance. Yet, we are trying to make it up through our social media platforms.
